Our Story
Born From a Need for Better Nigerian Journalism
Nigeria Reports was founded with a simple but urgent conviction: that Nigerians whether in Lagos or Maiduguri, London or Houston deserve a news platform that treats them as intelligent adults. One that reports facts without fear, covers power without fawning, and tells the stories that matter without waiting for permission.
We launched as a digital-first publication focused on the issues that shape everyday Nigerian life — politics, economy, security, health, education, and the culture that binds us together. Our editorial team covers all 36 states and the FCT, with reporters embedded in communities from the Niger Delta to the North-East, and correspondents tracking the Nigerian diaspora across the globe.
We are not affiliated with any political party, government agency, or corporate conglomerate. Our loyalty is to the facts — and to the millions of Nigerians who deserve nothing less.
Our Mission
To Inform. To Hold Power Accountable.
Our mission is to deliver accurate, fair, and comprehensive news coverage that empowers Nigerian citizens to make informed decisions about their lives, communities, and country. We report without fear and without favour — regardless of who the story implicates.
Our Vison
Nigeria's Most Trusted Digital News Platform.
We aspire to be the first place Nigerians turn to when news breaks — a platform known not just for speed, but for depth, integrity, and the courage to report stories others leave untold. A platform that makes Nigeria more informed, one story at a time.
Value
Truth, Independence, and Human Dignity.
Every story we publish is guided by three core values: an unwavering commitment to the truth, editorial independence from political and commercial influence, and deep respect for the dignity of every Nigerian whose life our reporting touches.

--- How We Work
Our Editorial Standards
Every story that appears on Nigeria Reports is held to a rigorous set of principles. These are not aspirational guidelines — they are non-negotiable rules that govern everything we publish.
1. Accuracy Before Speed
We verify before we publish. In an era of viral misinformation, we would rather be second with the truth than first with a lie. Every claim in our stories must be supported by at least two independent sources before publication. Corrections are published prominently and without delay.
4. Fair and Balanced Reporting
Every person or organisation subject to significant criticism in our stories is given a full and fair opportunity to respond before publication. We seek multiple perspectives, represent diverse viewpoints, and distinguish clearly between news reporting and opinion.
2. Editorial Independence
Our newsroom operates completely independently from advertisers, government agencies, and political actors. No advertiser has ever influenced our editorial decisions, and none ever will. Our coverage is driven entirely by news value and public interest.
3. Transparency & Accountability
We are transparent about our reporting methods, our sources where possible, and our errors when they occur. Our editors' contact details are publicly available. We take reader complaints seriously and have a formal process for addressing them promptly and fairly.
4. Fair and Balanced Reporting
Every person or organisation subject to significant criticism in our stories is given a full and fair opportunity to respond before publication. We seek multiple perspectives, represent diverse viewpoints, and distinguish clearly between news reporting and opinion.
